Recommended Kit Construction Skills
Only
experienced Kit
builders who have already have successfully completed advanced
electronic kits using SMD
components should attempt to assemble the DG8SAQ VNWA Kit. There are
over 250 SMD components to solder.
Please verify whether you have
skills below before placing an order for this kit.
Please see the
VNWA
Documentation for more
information.
Skills required to assemble the DG8SAQ VNWA include
Some previous experience assembling and commissioning an electronic project of intermediate complexity utilizing Surface Mount Devices (SMD).
Assembly requires patience and a steady hand as Integrated Circuits with 0.5mm pin spacing and SMD components 0603 are used in the kit.
Observing Electro Static Device (ESD) handling procedures.
Working knowledge of Electronic Circuitry at intermediate level
Access to tools such as Temperature Controlled Soldering Station with 0.4mm tip and a 50W soldering iron with Flat 3mm bit.
Optical Inspection Aids for x1.8 magnification for general assembly work and minimum of x3 magnification for Final Inspection and fault finding.
Some experience fault finding using Multimeter, Oscilloscope and Frequency Counter
A degree of Computer Literacy including knowledge of installing and operating Personal Computer applications
If in doubt please Do Not proceed. A ready tested Printed Circuit Board Assembly may be made available by SDR-Kits provided there is sufficient interest.
